Bike share aims to serve, enhance health in Wisconsin Rapids
The health of a community depends on a strong foundation built on access to transportation and an environment that promotes well-being. Wood County’s River Rider Bike Share Initiative, supported by a UW-Madison SMPH grant, works to combat chronic disease by promoting biking and community.

Fear of more dangerous second Zika, dengue infections unfounded in monkeys
An initial infection with dengue virus did not prime monkeys for an especially virulent infection of Zika virus, according to a study at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Nor did a bout with Zika make a follow-on dengue infection more dangerous.

Two GHI Associate Directors study Gender Analysis for One Health with the USDA, published in EcoHealth
Scholars from UW-Madison, including GHI Associate Directors Chris Olsen and Lori DiPrete Brown, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture convened a workshop at the intersection of one health, gender analysis and women in agriculture. Their study was published in EcoHealth.

Bicycling links Madison and Sister City of Bahir Dar
Rahel Desalegne, an Adjunct Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UW-Madison, is working on a project to make Bahir Dar, Ethiopia – a Sister City of Madison – more bicycle friendly.
