Free conference on Saturday, October 22 from 9:15am to 5:00pm designed for clinicians, health care workers, midwives, therapists, educators, and administrators who serve the Plain communities in Wisconsin.
- Newborn Screening – Discuss the status and role of the newborn screening program in Plain communities, including identification of genetic disorders and the role of carrier screening.
- Neurodevelopmental and Movement Disorders – Describe how to investigate infants/children presenting with neurodevelopmental and movement disorders. Recognize the inheritance pattern of common neurological disorders in the Plain population.
- Sudden Death, Cardiac, and Lipid Conditions – Recognize the common inherited cardiac and lipid disorders including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, propionic acidemia, sitosterolemia, and hypercholesterolemia.
