Dr. Johanna Elfenbein is an assistant professor of Bacteriology in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine. She is also an affiliate member at the UW–Madison Food Research Institute.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard College, her DVM from the University of Florida, and her PhD from Texas A&M University. In addition to research training, Dr. Elfenbein pursued advanced clinical training in large animal internal medicine and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Her love for Salmonella came from years of clinical practice where she was amazed by the spectrum of disease caused by the organism. In her spare time, Dr. Elfenbein enjoys running, hiking, cycling, and travel to exotic places.
