Medical students also have the opportunity to join a service-learning course in Guatemala to work with San Lucas Mission in its satellite clinics.
Participants organize supplies, travel to clinic sites, screen patients and present them to providers for evaluation. They can also volunteer for a local diabetes clinic and participate in community projects.
Dr. James Svenson and physician assistant Kevin Wyne lead the course in late July or early August.
