Dr. M. Saminathan, M.V.Sc., Ph.D (Veterinary Pathology) works as a Scientist (Senior Scale) in the Centre for Animal Disease Research and Diagnosis (CADRAD), ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (ICAR-IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. He obtained his M.V.Sc and Ph.D degrees from ICAR-IVRI, Deemed University in 2013 and 2018, respectively and B.V.Sc & A.H from Madras Veterinary College, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) in 2010. He is an ICMR-DHR International Fellow at the Global Health Institute, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA (Supervisor: Dr. Jorge E. Osorio). He possesses 9 years and 7 months of research, disease investigation, and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experiences in the discipline of Veterinary Pathology. He has handled 6 Research Projects as Principal Investigator (PI) and 10 as Co-PI. He has done research in zoonotic diseases rabies and Brucellosis; bluetongue virus (BTV), canine adenovirus and triple-negative mammary cancer. He has first-time characterized the immunocompetent mouse model for BTV infection after selective blockade of type-I interferons and first time experimentally proved the transplacental transmission of wild-type Indian BTV serotypes. Dr. Saminathan has published more than 327 publications (78 research and 36 review articles, 103 abstracts and 20 Lead papers in International and National Conference/Symposium, 59 GenBank submissions, 13 books and book chapters, 15 technical/popular articles, etc). He is the author of a book entitled “Essentials of Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology” by Springer Publisher. He is acting as Joint Secretary of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists. He has received more than 10 awards including Prof. S. Ramachandran Memorial Award, Dr. Ram Raksha Kiran Shukla Award, Dr. C.M. Singh Memorial Award, Dr. Balwant Singh Memorial Young Scientist Award, Dr. Patri Rama Rao Memorial Award, and Certificate of Outstanding Reviewer by Elsevier journals. He has been actively serving as Editor, Editorial Board Member and Reviewer in various journals (Elsevier, Springer, BioMed Central, Frontiers publishers, MDPI, etc.). His h-index is 29 and i10-index is 55 with 3185 citations.
