This will be the 41th Annual Wisconsin Women’s and Gender Studies Conference and
our third collaboration with the UW-Madison 4W Initiative (Women, Well-Being, Wisconsin and the World)
Join us April 12-14, 2018 at the Pyle Center, UW-Madison as we consider how gender informs culture, society, environment, economy and social justice.
See the website for the 2017 4W Summit here: https://womenstudies.wisc.edu/WSC/annualconf.htm
In 2018 are seeking proposals for presentations on the broadly defined theme of “Our Bodies, Our Earth: Voice, Violence and Peacemaking,” from across the disciplines addressing research, scholarship, program development, action research, pedagogy, curriculum, creative work and/or community activism.
We interpret ‘voice’ broadly and will consider proposals focused on topics from self- defined community action, to UN Policy development, to institutional or classroom transformation, and beyond.
Plan to join 100+ presenters: students, faculty, activists, artists, and community members, as we consider how gendered knowledge is created and experienced at the axes of identities.
The 4W Summit co-convenors and sponsors are honored to be holding this conference under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair on Gender, Wellbeing and a Culture of Peace as part of a global United Nations platform on education, science and culture.
Proposals due Nov. 10.
