Karen Kopacek, M.S., R.Ph., joined the faculty of the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in 2002. She is a member of the Pharmacy Practice Division and began her service as associate dean for student affairs in June 2012. She also has an affiliate appointment with the Department of Family Medicine to teach Physician Assistant students in the School of Medicine and Public Health.  She currently teaches on various cardiac and critical care topics in both programs.

Kopacek’s clinical practice focuses on medication education with patients enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation through UW Preventive Cardiology, Fort Healthcare, and Beaver Dam Community Hospital.  She also works as a part-time acute care pharmacist at Fort Healthcare.

Kopacek has been involved as a faculty member and preceptor in the School of Pharmacy Office of Global Health since 2009 where she co-coordinates an academic clerkship for fourth year PharmD students at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. She also volunteers as a pharmacist and faculty preceptor for two interdisciplinary summer internships to Belize and Guatemala.
