Research: Emerging Infectious Diseases

GHI and the One Health Centers support basic and translational research in Emerging Infectious Diseases.

How we do it:

  1. Providing surveillance, monitoring and evaluation for infectious diseases across humans, animals, and plants.
  2. Providing support for research and vaccine development for drug/antimicrobial resistant and neglected diseases.
  3. Establishing in-country biobanks, with Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals following international standards on protection of human subjects, that facilitate connections between labs and maximize the information gleaned from sampling.
  4. Facilitating in-country IRBs and financial transactions, and connect investigators with overlapping interests.
  5. Facilitating thoughtful collaborations with industry that are advised by and advance the interests of local communities.
