Dr. Dawd Siraj speaks on collaborations between UW-Madison and Jimma University (Ethiopia)

The African Studies Program is proud to welcome officials from Jimma University (Ethiopia) to campus, with the support of a GHI 2019 Visiting Scholars Grant, to discuss expanding cooperation between JU and UW-Madison, specifically in the medical field. Dr. Dawd Siraj, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at UW-Madison and a central organizer of UW-Madison’s academic engagement with Jimma University, discusses how these connections with JU came about.

After 40 years of partnership UW-Madison and the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, expand international collaboration

Planning for a new major in global health approved

The UW System recently approved a notice of intent from a committee led by entomology professor and chair Susan Paskewitz’s that plans for a new global health bachelor of science major. Building off the success of the Global Health Certificate, the new major will allow students to dig deeper into this topic area.
