Zambia: Bringing Together African Leaders for Change
Zambia: Bringing Together African Leaders for Change
In April of 2012, a team of collaborators from the Global Health Institute, led by Associate Director Lori DiPrete Brown, and GHI associates Sweta Shrestha and Jason Paltzer, worked with 40 national leaders from Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa to strengthen health systems through implementation of Quality Improvement projects and methods. Specific projects addressed a range of topics including injection safety, care for orphans and vulnerable children, pharmacy standards and protocols for hospitals, the training of health providers, and health journalism and health communications. Collaboration will continue through distance communication, the participation of African leaders in a GHI leadership workshop at UW-Madison, and selected site visits. This work was carried out on partnership with the American International Health Alliance, with support from the CDC.
