Urbanization is one of the most prevalent trends in recent history, and the coming century will be the “most urban” we’ve ever seen. Jason Vargo, an assistant scientist with the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment and the Global Health Institute, will describe the global projections for urbanization and explore the expectations for cities to both sustain the planet’s life support systems and improve people’s lives. The talk will introduce a broader discussion of how the study of cities and urbanism can lead to progress on broader sustainability goals, both on campus and in practice.
