Michaela Brause, an undergradute student at UW-Madison studying Community and Nonprofit Leadership with certificates in Global Health and Environmental Studies, will be holding a screening event of the documentary ‘Black Gold‘. After traveling to Ethiopia with Heidi Busse, Brause has gained a first hand experience of the coffee culture in Ethiopia.
Bringing together Global Health, Environmental Studies and Human Ecology departments as well as social justice and food systems student organizations, Brause hopes to foster a conversation around coffee in Ethiopia and global trade and fair trade standards around the world. Following the film local Madison coffee roasters will be available for a short discussion and Q&A. There will also be an opportunity to hear voices from Ethiopia.
Before the documentary starts, coffee samples from local Madison roasters will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m.
