Bicycling for Earth and Your Health

Celebrate Monona’s Year of the Bike and Green Living month at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center with a public lecture on climate, energy and sustainability. Postdoctoral researcher  Maggie Grabow (PhD, MPH) from the University of Wisconsin’s Global Health Institute will discuss the environmental and human health benefits of bicycling.

Bicycling is fun, convenient, cheaper, and better for the environment than driving — and it’s good for your health. There are also various barriers to bicycling, often dependent on where you live. Grabow will present research on the many “co-benefits” of bicycling and ways you can get motivated to bicycle during Monona’s Year of the Bicycle.

This free lecture begins at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, followed by a 7:00 p.m. tour of the green facility and exhibit areaRegistration is encouraged as space is limited.

Bike to this event. In keeping with the Aldo Leopold Nature Center’s (ALNC) interest in the environment, sustainability and healthy living, the reduction of carbon emissions and pollution, and following the Leopold ethic of ‘living lightly on the land,’ the center encourages employees and visitors to use alternative and sustainable transportation choices to and from the nature center.
